Early Life

On March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma, U. S. Wilma and Ray Dee Norris took their son Carlos Ray Norris to this world. His father was a soldier of World War II, mechanics, bus drivers, and truck drivers. Norris has Ireland and Cherokee roots. He has two younger brothers, Wieland and Aaron. Norris’s parents divorced when he was 16 years old. After that, his mother, his brothers and he lived in Prairie Village, Kansas, before they moved to Torrance, California.

Career

In 1958, Norris joined the United States Air Force as air police (AP). He was sent to Osan’s air base, South Korea, where he was trained at Tang Soo Do. After returning to U. S., he continued to function as an AP at the March Air Force base in California. In 1962, he was dismissed from the U. S. Air Force, and was applied to become a police officer.

While he was on the waiting list for the job, he decided to open a martial arts studio, and also to participate in the martial arts competition. Over time, he became better and better, and five years later, he opened the karate school chain. Some celebrities attended their schools, including Steve McQueen, Chad McQueen, Bob Barker, Priscilla Presley, Donny Osmond, and Marie Osmond. After winning many martial arts championships, Norris founded his own discipline Chun Kuk Do.
